Feng Shui Patterns and Colors
When a feng shui consultant offers advice to add a fountain, living plant, bright light, pottery or wind chime to your environment, there is a need to adjust one of the five elements – Water, Metal, Wood, Earth or Fire.
However, in some areas of a building it’s not always possible to do so.
Each element is also associated with a color, shape and pattern which can be incorporated into your design details if adding the element is not feasible. For example, green striped fabric can stand in for Wood energy in a low light area of a building.
Here are a few suggestions:
WATER: Dark blue, black colors – Wavy/fluid/sinuous shapes
WOOD: All shades of green – Tall/rectangle/columnar shapes
FIRE: Red, purple, orange, pink colors – Angular/pointed shapes
EARTH: Yellow, brown, beige, terracotta colors – Square and low shapes
Metal: White, gray, silver, gold, metallic, pastel shades – Spherical/dome/round shapes
